About Anna W.
I am currently the in-country representative for the Swedish Meteorology and Hydrology Institute (SMHI) and the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) leading strategic communication, project and staff management as well as donor relations. I am as well the technical lead for water management in the textile industry, capacity building in compliance and enforcement of water and environmental law and i'm as well leading the gender packets. I have over the last 10 years worked in Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia on high impact and green solution projects. I have since 2015 worked to establish SMHIs professional presence in Ethiopia and since 2017 for SIWI. I have as well developed several successful projects and programs with the government, private sector and various donors that have produced high impact results. I authored chapters in a World Bank Group Knowledge Product, Country Environmental Analysis – Ethiopia on water and mining, pollution, waste and energy, household energy and green economy. The CEA is produced for most countries where the World Bank Group operates and assesses the state of the environment, the country trajectory and pathways to a sustainable and green economy. I received the President’s Award for Excellence from the World Bank Group in 2018 for my achievements in Closing Gender Gaps Across the Ethiopian Energy Sector.I completed a master’s degree in Ecotechnology and Sustainable Development in June 2019 where I specialized in environmental management and strategy tools for green growth. Additionally, I have been working in Ethiopia since 2013 with a variety of stakeholders on clean cooking programs, policy research, developing regional coordination programs, women business development programs, SME development, start-up manager, permaculture eco hubs, sustainable forestry and sustainable land management and off-grid energy programs.
