In my position as in-house linguist, I formulated the company's English Language Style Guide, which was crucial in making uniform all Spanish-to-English translations.All operations were done entirely in Spanish at a professional level, including written and oral communication.

I was an English language coach for VT Language Center, a Colombian-based language school affiliated with VT Education. I focused on developing English language materials through Smrt English in both English and Spanish.I taught ESL courses to adults and youth, catering to each group’s specific weaknesses and strengths, both educationally and socially. In order to have a more well-rounded, developmental course, I created supplementary materials through social media platforms, such as Facebook and blogs.As I began in this role at the school's inception, it was critical that I served in sales and marketing capacities so as to acquire new students in clients. This required frequent meetings and presentations, in both English and Spanish, as well as promotional activities and events, allowing me to grow professionally in more than just the educational realm.

This role acted as an extension to my ESL teaching experience in China, as it was through the same company but at a different point in the teaching process.EF has a three-step program in their curriculum, and through this role, I worked with the online teaching component. I taught classes to students all over the world on a variety of topics, both one on one and to a group. I utilized by teaching skills while working to enhance them on a different platform.

I educated and advised Beijing-based professionals, such as politicians, students and business professionals from major Chinese corporations.During my time in Beijing, I gained international work experience and a basic understanding of Mandarin Chinese through bi-weekly classes. I acquired TEFL Certification and the highest (Level 4) scoring of the Cambridge TKT Module Band 1 Exam, proving excellent instructional capacity.I furthered my experience by acting as a key member of the planning committee for the first annual Beijing Teachers' Forum. I assisted in planning the event with fellow teachers and managers, coordinating speakers, presentations and developing materials, in addition to completing basic event planning action items, so as to begin a successful training opportunity for EF Education First.

I began working for The Pitt News as a member of the Arts & Entertainment section reporting staff in September 2010. In this role, I conducted interviews and research in order to write articles on the arts and culture, including music, movies, exhibitions and events, among others, as well as long-form pieces about more complex topics.After working in this role for two years, I was promoted to the position of Arts & Entertainment Editor, which provided an entire new host of opportunities and requirements. I oversaw a group of 20 staff members, distributed articles weekly, and managed the daily production and distribution of the paper, both in print and online. Each day I received articles written by staff members, which I then edited and formatted for the newspaper. The position was higher stress and required more accuracy and specialization.

The Communications and Public Relations Internship was an excellent opportunity to develop skills throughout the realm of communications. I wrote Legacy Statements for University donors, worked on website development, and conducted administrative and office duties when needed.In this role, I also wrote and edited communications and public relations materials, which included press releases, brochures and stories featuring prominent members of the University community.
