About Anna Westermeyer Marlin
I am Anna Westermeyer Marlin, an educator in Southeast Iowa. I work as a library program services consultant for the GPAEA after nearly ten years as an English instructor and five years as a district teacher librarian. My roles include teacher, instructional partner, information specialist, and program administrator as defined by the AASL. I also own and instruct at Crossed Paw Yoga, which I began in the summer of 2020. In the past, I've taught English. While teaching (both secondary and post-secondary), I worked consistently on curriculum development in my coursework, which included both literature and informational text review, speaking and listening development, vocabulary enhancement, and composition skills. I have ten years of experience in the secondary education setting, and several semesters of experience working with college level students through area community colleges. I have unique experience as an ELA educator in that I've worked with all levels of secondary students, freshmen through senior. Additionally, I have worked both as a teaching assistant at the university level and as a dual-credit and online instructor. My experience leaves me with an understanding of learners at all levels of education. In my current role, I get the opportunity to work with students in all grades on their literacy skills. I am also very dedicated to working for causes outside of school as well. At a previous school, I co-created and sponsored a volunteer group for students. Personal ties with our area United Way chapter and various social action groups married well with this program, and students often took part in community volunteer events. I have served on the Keokuk Public Library's board of trustees as well, which is a continuation of my passion for literacy in both educational and community settings.

Communications Specialist
While between my Master's degree and a full-time position, I filled in for the long-term vacation of Senior Communications Specialist Aliza Golan. Her regular duties required that she: • Execute internal and external communication key responsibilities• Plan and execute company-wide and community events• Organize senior management meetings• Coordinate corporate philanthropy and donations• Administer company-wide rewards & recognition program• Lead cross-functional communication team dedicated to safety, quality and environmental awareness• Formulate company key messages for executive communications• Promote Corporate Social Responsibility commitments• Mange media relations and promote positive public image• Represent company in media communications and crisis situations• Serve as liaison between multiple sites of Roquette America and Roquette GroupWhile I did not serve to the full capacity that she did--nor could I--I was responsible for taking on any interim duties that I could in her absence. It was an incredibly rewarding experience, and I learned more about HR from this experience than any prior classroom work.
Graduate Student Intern
While finishing up my Masters degree full-time, I worked with Magdelyn H. Helwig as a writing program intern. We worked closely with Fountainhead Press to compile, edit, and write a complementary textbook for the English 180 course (citation below). I additionally spent my time creating a working bibliography over research related to writing pedagogy, which was the focus of my capstone work. My research and my work teaching two sections of English 180 helped steer the direction of the text's contents and its publication.
