As a volunteer for Refugee Women Connect, under the Liverpool Students branch, I have played a key role in the fundraising of over £4000 in my first 6 months with the charity. I have aided the organisation and planning of multiple events such as pub quizzes and bingo nights, at which we have reached full capacity of our venues. Within the planning of these events, I have liaised with local businesses and individuals to secure donations for prizes, having obtained vouchers from large companies such as Turtle Bay and Junkyard Golf. A key part of my role has been taking ownership of the pre-event marketing through our instagram page and the creation and distribution of flyers. Each event has been more successful than the last with our group surpassing our target by more than double.

Working in the Brand and Acquisition team, I have been a part of many projects and campaigns. I have aided the delivery of 6 Great Runs, liaising with the creative agency and our contacts at the Great Run Series, as well as working on multiple hyperlocal campaigns such as Christmas by the Sea. I have taken the lead on one strand of a national campaign that incorporated TV, Direct Mail, Social, Display, Press and Out Of Home creative, feeding back to the agency and using my initiative in a campaign that was sent across thousands of people. Other projects I have worked on include internal communications with colleagues for upcoming events, partnership with Salford City, seeing multiple creative briefs through from start to finish, leading the rebranding of the offices and taking the lead on a partnership with Edinburgh Zoo.

Alongside my studies at University of Liverpool, I worked part-time as a Barista at Starbucks. During my time in this role, I learnt to work under pressure bearing wider company goals in mind such as meeting targets on customer service and barista skills. This role also taught me the importance of time management and prioritisation as I balanced my studies and deadlines with my shifts.

Working on a deli stall inside Warrington Market allowed me to develop my customer service and communication skills massively. However being given the opportunity to take on the social media management for a new venture of a ready meal delivery service during the Covid-19 pandemic provided me with the opportunity to explore my social media marketing skills as I was given the freedom to run the page in my own way. In the space of a month, the social media generated over 50 new customers (in a completely new location). The reopening of the hospitality industry meant the delivery service was discontinued due to the small business being unable to cope with the demand of these orders on top of running the deli.

Having worked in this role for over 3 years, I gained the trust of the owner of the shop, often opening up and closing on my own, or being the primary supervisor with newer members of staff. Working with children with a range of needs has allowed me to understand the importance of adapting my communication style to suit the requirements of the customer, and use my past experiences to gauge an accurate idea of how best to approach difficult or unusual situations. I worked in this position for over 3 years, however have been asked multiple times by the owner to undergo temporary employment during busy periods such as the school holidays. Alongside my role in the shop, I took on the social media marketing for the business for a few months, whereby I achieved an increase of 286% content interactions and reached 80% more accounts within my first 4 weeks. Unfortunately as I moved onto university I was unable to maintain this role, however it enabled me to gain a sound understanding of Meta Business Suite, as well as how to optimise the page in the best way to gain more interactions that will ultimately drive sales both online and instore.
