In my high school years, it quickly became clear that I loved the subjects Chemistry and Biology, and especially the combination of the two. This made the choice for the Bachelor’s degree Pharmaceutical Sciences very easy. During my Bachelor’s degree, I got an insight into all the different aspects of drug discovery. My hard work and passion for this field were rewarded with the 'KHMW Young Talent Incentive Prize in Pharmaceutical Sciences', based on the grades of my first academic year. The molecular pharmacology part of drug discovery is what sparked my interest the most. Therefore, I did a research internship in Drug Discovery & Target Finding at the end of my Bachelor’s degree. I finished this internship including a thesis with a 9.0. During this time, I obtained various practical skills like vector cloning, cell culturing, cell transfections and BRET assays. Since I really enjoyed this part of my Bachelor’s degree, I am eager to expand my knowledge on molecular pharmacologic research in the near future!
