Hello! My name is Anna Ardelean and I recently earned my Master of Public Policy from the Heller School of Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. I concentrated in Economic and Racial Equity, and my studies focused specifically on weight/body size discrimination and how public policy can be used to combat it.Prior to my time at Heller, I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern Indiana with my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and minors in Africana Studies, Spanish-Studies, and Pre-Law. I have worked in student affairs and party politics/campaigns.

    As NAAFA's policy intern, it was my responsibility to assist with the lobbying for legislation in our key targeted states, including Massachusetts. To strengthen our long-term grassroots organizing efforts, I compiled a national database of local fat organizations, activists, influencers, and campus groups. I also reviewed and critiqued policy language for pending legislation in Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, and Vermont. I attended the International Weight Stigma Conference to learn about the latest research in fat policy. Finally, I observed and participated in meetings for various aspects of the organization to get a greater insight into nonprofit management.
