Graduate researcher in the Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) program at UW, and the Center for an Informed Public (CIP) at UW. My research focused on political misinformation, the attention economy, and social media influencers, and used methods from network science and natural language processing.

Developed a research product relating to the adoption of pseudoscience in expert testimony in contemporary legal controversy.

I program in a lab focused on the application of deep learning to medical imaging problems, particularly those that focus on glioblastoma and other brain tumors. Projects include an automatic brain tumor segmentation network, resampling and super-resolution networks, and image synthesis networks using GANs in Python (Tensorflow, Keras, and CUDA). I also develop interactive, public-facing data visualization tools using Shiny (R) and d3.js, and am actively developing for the open-source imaging platform 3D Slicer and the Python package glue-viz. I have given lectures and held classes for MGH and MIT on both deep learning and the fundamentals of machine learning as applied to medical imaging. I manage our group's high-performance computing servers, and create the more standard image processing pipelines that bring patient scans from scanner to clinician laptop.

Coded the ACLU's email and online fundraising campaigns during year-end fundraising using HTML and Drupal, and ran analysis on their web traffic and donations using Omniture, Salesforce, and Strongview.

Maintained the world’s longest-running plant biodiversity experiment, as well as experiments on plant CO2 and nutrient enrichment. Conducted surveys of oak wilt on site as part of an independent research project. Developing a lesson plan for K-12 students to conduct their own surveys of oak wilt at Cedar Creek, in an effort to create a continuing citizen science monitoring system for oak wilt.

Graphed arctic ice data mined from coast guard journals with GIS and Matlab, related this data to global climate trends, and am preparing an article for publication on the results.

Performed a literature review and helped to draft a rebuttal for an expert witness in an upcoming state-level reproductive justice case.

Created a tool with Excel and Bloomberg to track eco-friendly “green bonds” in the global market, and valued effects of weather disasters on global health/property insurers.

Programmed an analytical tool to gauge the effectiveness of PPFA’s e-mail fundraising campaign’s using R, a statistical programming language.

Taught groups of campers age 6+ programming concepts, designed a two-week programming curriculum in LOGO, and coached sports.
