This book celebrates 10 years since the St Anne's Old Girls Guild produced its first cookbook titled, 'A Dainty Morsel,' back in 2013. 'Gather' is a collaboration between Theresa Rattray and her team of dedicated St Anne's Old Girls who committed to creating a culinary gem including contributions from the wider St Anne's family such as staff, students, parents, and Old Girls from around the world. Our vision for this project was to develop an inclusive cookbook showcasing our diversity and representing all voices that make up our unique St Anne's flavour. We wanted the book to depict a gathering of people and food, the food we enjoy when we are together. We wanted it to be more than just a cookbook, but rather a treasure of family stories centered around generational celebrations and cultural gatherings. And so began our task of bringing together recipes from our diverse cuisines to create a colourful menu inspired by our shared love of food. • Hitchcock Michalski
Junior Graphic Designer (3 Month Internship)
    Hitchcock Michalski Apr 2022 - Jun 2022
Somerset West, Western Cape, South Africa
During my intensive three-month internship at Hitchcock Michalski, I served as a Junior Graphic Designer while concurrently pursuing my BA Honours Degree in Multimedia Design online. Throughout this period, my primary focus was on the creation, development, and preparation of corporate brand identities. This encompassed a wide range of tasks, including logo design, crafting distinctive colour palettes, selecting typography, and establishing a cohesive visual language extending to posters, pamphlets, banners, adverts, billboards, and more. I played a role in shaping the visual identities of various corporate entities, ensuring that their branding elements were not only visually striking but also aligned with their values and objectives. One of the invaluable skills I developed during my time at Hitchcock Michalski was the art of effectively presenting design concepts through formal presentations. This involved learning how to articulate and present creative ideas, a critical skill in the field of graphic design. After preparing the design work, I would create presentation materials to effectively convey the concepts to my boss, who would then take the lead in presenting the work to the client. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to assemble comprehensive brand style guides, ensuring consistency and uniformity in all brand-related materials. One standout achievement during my internship was the design of a champagne bottle label, a project that received acclaim from an international client. This label design was not only well-received but also made its way to store shelves in Italy, underscoring the real-world impact of my design work. My time at Hitchcock Michalski was marked by significant growth in both design skills and presentation abilities, and I look forward to building upon these experiences as I continue to advance in my career as a graphic designer.
