Business English Curriculum DesignerAmerican Corners Of Montenegro Oct 2019 - Jun 2020I'm continuing to redesign the 10 week Business English course offered at the American Corner in Podgorica as well as the American Corner in Cetinje. The two units in the 10 week course are based on the local Business English students' need for English job application preparation as well as English for succeeding in current jobs. It integrates topically appropriate and contextualized vocabulary and grammar with communicative task-based activities. It's designed based on current best practices in blended and online education utilizing Google Classroom for homework assignments class materials and grades. Google Docs for virtual handouts/worksheet that can be used collaboratively, Google Slides for cooperative project presentations, and Skype meetings for synchronous class sessions. This class is designed to be adaptable for us as a fully online remote course or a blended learning course with synchronous sessions being held in person.

Student TeacherVanguard High School Jan 2013 - May 2013I taught two classes at Vanguard Academy. One was an inclusive protest literature course for juniors and seniors, the other was a freshman humanities course that covered ancient European history and literature. Both classes were cross disciplinary with English and history. Under the supervision of my mentors, I designed units of instruction for each course. For the protest ligature course, I taught a unit on Chinese history and culture that correlated to the memoir Paper sons. I additionally co-taught Sherman Alexie's Flight and Piri Thomas' Down these Mean Streets. For the freshman humanities course I designed and taught Beowulf, supplementing the text with a graphic novel and focusing on plot arch, character archetypes and analytic writing.

ObserverCooke Center Academy Sep 2011 - May 2012While completing my observation hours at Cooke Center I was able to work with several different groups of students. I observed freshmen, juniors and seniors. I helped with group work and answered student questions. As a special education school, Cooke's students taught me a lot about working with special needs students. Much of that information has informed the curriculum and lesson plans I've created in my career since.
