Throughout this internship, I worked at and for the Children’s Magical Garden, Sprouting Justice on Open Streets, and Rise Up! Summer Nature Program at Maria Sola Community Green Space. I was able to practice and learn many skills relating to environmental and social justice, outdoor education, and urban green spaces. In this role, I created educational materials for children of all ages, backgrounds, and learning styles; organised and legitimatised community and volunteering events; completed manual labour tasks; assisted in setting up and closing of Sprouting Justice on Open Streets; researched and advocated for public urban green spaces; and worked as a camp counsellor for a community-based nature camp for children and families. Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, United States

The Bucknell Farm and Lewisburg Community Garden are two agricultural spaces that practice sustainable, regenerating farming that produces food for students, community members, and local food banks. As a student farmer, I instructed and oversaw volunteers to complete manual labour and worked to develop an inclusive community. I was a resource for volunteers as I was trained on the farming practices implemented and how they operate in small-scale as well as large-scale farming. I also took on individual responsibilities and tasks on the Bucknell farm and Lewisburg Community Garden. Throughout this summer internship, I researched the relationships and intersections between climate change, refugee migration, and soccer. Our research team created two proposals for Theophrastus Research Institute (TheoRi) that will be used as guides for future grant/donor applications. My research team focused on creating an 11-page proposal for a Climate Matches & Competition Campaign. This proposal outlined various initiatives for fan participation, media, football clubs, national teams, stadiums, and uniforms. Geneva, Switzerland

For three hours a week, I was an assistant teacher to a first grade class in the International School of Geneva. During this role, I aided in overseeing the children and helped them when they encountered difficulties. I would be assigned to work individually with students who needed extra attention and aid with activities and lessons. I would lead reading groups, present on world topics in a manner that the children could understand, and acted as an overall resource for the students and class teacher. These children were from a multitude of countries so I taught english as a second language and worked in a multicultural environmental.

During this role, I lead warm up activities, discussed tactics and goals for the team, umpired matches during practices, and had to be alert for any injuries and mental strains of the players. It was pertinent to be approachable and encouraging so that the players were comfortable to ask me questions and for advice.
