Operation Boots to Business is delivered by Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University (IVMF) in cooperation with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as a program developed to introduce and train transitioning service members to business ownership.The Boots to Business curriculum leads participants through the key steps for evaluating business concepts and provides the foundational knowledge required to develop a business plan. - Provide Assistance in exploring business ownership or other self-employment opportunities- Provide Instruction on business basics and techniques for evaluating the feasibility of participant’s business concepts and foundational knowledge required to develop an actionable business plan- Provide Introduction to SBA resources available to access start-up capital, technical assistance and contracting opportunities- Provide connection to resources in participant’s local communitiesParticipants are introduced to the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to launch a business, including steps for developing business concepts, how to develop a business plan, and information on SBA resources available to help. I facilitated this two-day in-person program as a subject matter expert offering the perspective of a skilled business advisors.
