The Men's Banner Project is an award-winning series that blends social artistry, performance, and installation. I created it in response to the thousands of missing and murdered Indigenous women in North America, commonly referred to as #MMIWG, and the ongoing epidemic issue of violence against women. The Men's Banner Project involves asking men to make the promise not to use their hands in violence against women as well as not to ignore or tolerate the violence they witness. The banner is a tool to begin a dialogue, show support, and build a stronger community. This project is my response to the missing and murdered women from the Native American Community in North America #MMIWG. I felt compelled to do something artistic and interactive. I noticed that women run many actions, organizations, and campaigns for women and needed to involve men in a positive way. I go to male-dominated spaces such as beer festivals, outdoor music/folk festivals, comic conventions, hydro/engineering firms, popular outdoor markets, famous streets, and university and high school campuses to create men's banners and collect handprints.Please use the contact form for workshops, speaking engagements, or to have a Men's Banner made for your school or organization.
