Develop and deliver informative and engaging activities, events, and publications to build public awareness and grow membership support of Upper Valley Land Trust's mission. Work independently and in collaboration with staff members to organize indoor and outdoor events, coordinate and support volunteers, assist with communications through publications, direct mail, websites, and media relations; and support the President's work in donor relations and strategic planning.

I co-managed a full time reception staff of four while also participating in the day to day aspect of the business. I was responsible for training in all new staff and did so using a system that I created. Magnolia is a very busy animal hospital located in the capital city with an active clientele of over 10,000. Our motto was: We strive to provide the best customer service possible and treat each animal as if it were our own.

High Country Conservancy works to protect the natural resources of Northwest North Carolina by conserving land with significant ecological, cultural, recreational, or scenic value in the North Carolina High Country.As part of Americorps Project Conserve I held a position at this office where I organized and participated in stewardship of BRC's conserved lands including easement monitoring, baseline documentation, and investigation of prospective projects. GIS use is a major component to both new easement projects and existing easement sites. Conducted outreach and educate to landowners as well as the general public to promote BRC's land conservation efforts. Coordinated volunteers, when necessary, for stewardship projects on existing easements.

The program places AmeriCorps members in service with one of fourteen organizations working to protect the unique natural resources of the southern Blue Ridge Mountain region. Project Conserve members will serve in the areas of conservation education and outreach, volunteer recruitment, land conservation, and water quality protection and enhancement.The mission of AmeriCorps Project Conserve is to serve western North Carolina by building stronger, more educated and involved communities that understand the threats to their local environment, are equipped with the tools and resources to take direct conservation action, and have significant opportunities to engage in conservation activities through volunteering. Through the efforts of these dedicated communities and the direct service of AmeriCorps Project Conserve members, we hope to ultimately increase the amount of land and habitat conserved, protect and enhance water quality, and support energy conservation throughout the region.AmeriCorps is a federally-supported program of the Corporation for National and Community Service that helps communities across the country meet critical needs in education, public safety, health, and the environment. Administered by the Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy, Project Conserve is one of 13 AmeriCorps programs supported through grants from the North Carolina Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service and from the Corporation for National and Community Service.

Assisted a learning disabled 13 year old in all aspects of academia including: Math, Science, Social Studies, and English. Focus was on developing basic skills such as spelling, reading comprehension, grammar, punctuation, and problem solving skills. Guidance was also necessary in social interactions including conflict resolution and peer-peer communication. This student was working well below grade level and required his own adapted curriculum for nearly every classroom assignment or project therefore I spent every class period except for Physical Education and Lunch/Recess with the student.

Conducted forest inventories as a member of a backcountry research team using Trimble Recon GPS units and FIREMON sampling techniques. This data was used in development and execution of Regional Burn Plans as well as in the analysis of the ecological effects of prescribed fires. Organized and taught FIREMON techniques to tribal members. Wrote site reports and online articles.
