I oversee internal and external communications and marketing efforts for Fehr Graham, an 12-office engineering and environmental firm in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin with more than 200 employees. Our mission is to improve the quality of life in the communities where our clients live and work. I didn't get my start in marketing in a traditional manner. Then again, not much of my professional experience came about in a traditional manner. I became a journalist hoping to one day write for Sports Illustrated. Instead, I quickly went from reporter to the online editor's backup. I loved new media and eventually earned the opportunity to oversee the Rockford Register Star newsroom's digital operation. I was promoted to managing editor, which allowed me to focus on oversight of newsroom operations, including content generation and the delivery of that content across all platforms — print, digital, social media and mobile. After my position was eliminated in May 2017, I applied the skills I learned in nearly 19 years in news media and apply them to a marketing career with Fehr Graham.What I love about Fehr Graham is the firm's commitment to clients and communities. We are invested in all our markets and strive to improve roads, bridges, sidewalks, water, soil, workplace safety and much more. At Fehr Graham, I manage a team of marketing professionals whose focus is to show our firm in the best light. We developed and launched a new website in July 2021. We started search engine optimization and thought leadership/blogging campaigns to drive brand awareness. We are leveraging our Client Relationship Management software and building client experience programs.
