I am currently pursuing a MSc in Plant Biotech at the WUR. I hold a bachelor in Plant Sciences, which provided me with a broad scientific foundation in areas such as bio-organic chemistry, cell biology, plant pathology, and statistics. From my second BSc year onward, I specialized in plant genetics and health, taking courses like Genetic Analysis Trends and Concepts, Introduction to Bioinformatics, and Plant Biotechnology. During the same year, I attended a summer school at ESALQ, Piracicaba (Brazil), on tropical biobased production systems. There, I not only learned about agricultural inputs, natural resources, and tropical biodiversity, but also discovered my enthusiasm for interdisciplinary events and discussions. In my third year I worked at the laboratory of Plant Physiology for my thesis on germination parameters of different A.thaliana ecotypes. I concluded my bachelor's degree with an exchange to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS, UW Madison) where I took courses on phytopathology, microbiology, and biodiversity.Over these three years I have gained valuable experience in both teamwork and independent projects, as well as critical thinking, academic writing, and information literacy. I am ambitious, investigative, and a fast learner. Alongside my studies, I work as a sales assistant in a garden center (nursery), where I come in contact with the practical aspects of cultivation, customer perspectives and commercial decision-making.My main interests lie in molecular and cell biology, genetics, and phytopathology. I am particularly interested to find an internship as part of my MSc, where can further develop my networking and argumentative writing skills, while gaining hands-on experience with software tools, data analysis, laboratory techniques, and experimental design outside the university setting.Feel free to reach out!
