I serve as a senior advisor to the department Manager and lead three teams in the communications management division of the external relations department of the Inter-American Development Bank, including: Relations with the US Government and Congress, the Bank's efforts to support its Bank's 26 borrowing member countries, and support for the Executive Vice President's office. The IDB is a fifty-year old organization that provides solutions to development challenges in 26 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, partnering with governments, companies and civil society organizations. The IDB achieves its mission of reducing poverty and expanding economic opportunity throughout Latin America by lending money, providing grants, and by offering research, advice and technical assistance to improve key areas like education, poverty reduction and agriculture. The Bank also takes a lead role on cross-border issues like trade, infrastructure and energy.

The Treasury Department serves as the federal government’s fiscal agent, receiving tax and other revenue, making payments to creditors and beneficiaries of government sponsored programs such as Social Security, gathering and publishing official financial reports on the state of the federal government’s finances, managing debt auctions on a nearly daily basis to ensure liquidity, monitoring suspicious banking activity to protect against terrorist threats, overseeing parts of the banking system, coordinating with other federal agencies also engaged in banking oversight, working with the federal reserve, ensuring the integrity of our nation’s money supply, and leading the federal government’s financial literacy efforts.• Supported the Secretary in his efforts to fulfill the President’s economic agenda through a variety of task oriented committee assignments to research and provide input, and as the official representative of the Department on many federal government wide initiatives and task forces (e.g., Financial Education, Volunteer Freedom Corp, News Americans, Puerto Rico Status)• Served as one of the Department’s primary spokespersons• Working closely with the U.S. Secret Service, the Federal Reserve, the U.S. Mint and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, I served as a principal advisor to the Secretary on matters of coin and currency, especially as it related to counterfeit threats, both domestically and internationally• Provided support to the Department’s International Affairs Division, particularly in the area of remittances and financial inclusion in the Americas. The Smithsonian is an institution made up of nineteen distinct museums, five research centers and a national zoo. • Led a pan-institutional effort to improve public programming and exhibits to more accurately reflect the contributions Hispanic Americans• Through an effective strategic planning process, built consensus and a collaborative approach across a large number of independent and unique member institutions in support of a shared vision and mission• Raised funds from the private sector for new exhibits and projects • Responsible for strategic, results-focused management and oversight of a $14+million congressional appropriation to support the work of the Center• Oversaw the development and coordinated the launch of several successful traveling multi-year exhibits, including “Our Journeys, Our Stories” • Provided support and funding, and coordinated the development of several multi-year, in-house initiatives including a Latin Music component of the Folk Life Festival

HACR is a non-profit coalition consisting of the largest and most influential national Hispanic organizations in the country. HACR, headquartered in Washington DC, partners with Fortune 500 companies to increase Hispanic representation in employment, procurement, philanthropy, and governance.• Organized and conducted a comprehensive strategic planning process to build consensus, a share vision, and solid governance process to guide the coalition members serving on the board of directors• Increased the organization’s fundraising multi-fold through careful examination of current spending patterns, and extensive fund raising, including the creation of new fundraising events and activities.• Raised funds for, conducted research and published a Best Practices series consisting of five publications examining best practices in employment, procurement, philanthropy and governance• Instituted a partnership with Harvard Business School to provide executive training programs in Corporate Governance to community and business leaders• Instituted an annual Hispanic Corporate Directors Dinner, which both raised considerable funds for the organization but also created a network among the directors and the leaders of the organization• Built partnerships with organizations of mutual benefit (e.g., New America Alliance, National Association of Corporate Directors, National Society of Hispanic MBAs)

The committee’s jurisdiction ranged from oversight of the Department of Justice and our nation’s criminal and drug enforcement laws to approving federal judicial nominations, as well as review of immigration law, the federal courts, antitrust law, patents and trademarks, and technology related legislation. • Managed the day-to-day operations of the Committee, including supervising committee staff, managing a $20+ million annual budget for salaries and expenses, overseeing the committee’s hearings and mark-ups, and ensuring compliance with the Senate’s record and reporting processes. • Provided input and support in each of the committee’s areas of jurisdictions, with an emphasis in immigration law and judicial nominations.

The Task Force, established under the U.S. Senate Republican Conference, provided input from the private sector, community based organizations, and the federal, state and local government, to ensure the needs of the Hispanic community were met in legislative proposals. • Led the executive staff of the 20+ members/Senators in their initiatives to solicit input from community leaders in their home states, and in selecting representatives to the national advisory committee• Organized and coordinated four meetings of the advisory committee each year, including logistics, preparation materials, member roles and responsibilities, and the development of timely and relevant recommendations• Coordinated and monitored implementation of the advisory committee’s recommendations in various policy areas including passage of the North American Free Trade Act, economic development initiatives, education policy including reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education and the Higher Education Acts, immigration reform, small business issues, criminal justice related matters, and healthcare• Wrote and public annual reports on the goals, activities and outcomes of the advisory committee• Provided the impetus and supported the work of the individual Senators in their efforts to mirror the advisory committee structure in their home states
