Chief Commercial OfficerPort Of Coos Bay Jan 2017 - Jul 2019Coos Bay, Or, UsOversaw Commercial Strategy, Port Development and Governmental Affairs.Redesigned the Port’s demand generation strategy. Resulting in increased revenue of $20.75M, a 700% increase in inbound leads, 8 times higher social media indicators, record number of articles and interviews published in trade magazines and won two industry awards (AAPA) for best commercial output. Led cross-functional teams to ensure projects were conceived and implemented effectively. This included project initiation, planning, execution, and efficiently communicating throughout their life cycle while managing risk to ensure delivery within time, budget, and quality targets. For example, I organized all aspects of the Port’s infrastructure rehabilitation program with associated budget of $120M (including RFI/RFP processes and procuring). This project required extensive reporting and in person meetings with state and federal grantors as they are the main funders of the Port’s rehabilitation project. Conducted a highest and best use analysis of the Port’s assets. Commissioned and concluded a feasibility study outlining a brownfield state of the art intermodal marine terminal for the Port. Stantec was the chosen vendor for this project which was funded by a $75K grant from Business Oregon. We won the grant because our application was impactful in describing how to maximize the Port’s value creation leading to the next cycle of growth.Performed business and operational analysis to address commercial challenges. Worked to acquire railroad and today Oregon International Port of Coos Bay is the only port authority in the US that owns and operates a railroad and this bundling of services is a unique differentiator allowing the Port to combine sea and rail service inclusive of pricing while also furthering its role as an intermodal hub for the area. -
