I contribute to COG's mission of finding cures and improving outcomes for all children with cancer. My job involves coordinating the development of clinical trials from concept proposals through full protocol activation (and ushering amendments to active trials as needed). Once a trial is activated, I support staff at enrolling institutions with protocol navigation.

I managed day-to-day operations for numerous research studies, culminating in service as lead coordinator for USC's participation in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) project of the NCI. I designed relational databases and systematized data management processes for complex data sets. I led study teams with emphasis on agile and fair task distribution, workable timelines, skill development and academic relevance for research volunteers and student interns. I handled regulatory submissions for projects overseen by academic, hospital, and state of California review boards. I facilitated cooperation between investigators, across institutions, disciplines and departments. Over the years, I was also privileged to work with diverse clinic- and population-based participants in research, guiding the process of informed consent and conducting interviews (structured and semi-structured) with thousands of cancer patients, survivors and healthy volunteers.

I worked with a superbly organized team of instructors and teaching assistants to implement a distance learning English language program. During the five years I worked at Burbank Adult School, I enjoyed teaching classes and tutoring students from a diversity of national origins and language backgrounds.

Santa Monica, Ca

My work as the primary technician running the HIV and Hepatitis EIA bench entailed completing roughly 20 enzyme immunoassays per shift for presence of antibodies and antigens for HIV and Hepatitis in peripheral blood and CSF. I also ran a panel of assays for a specific set of tumor markers. The work was extremely repetitive so to pass the time I enjoyed learning a few phrases in each of the languages represented by co-workers around me: Arabic, Russian, Armenian, Tagalog, Persian ...
