I am a former industry practitioner of strategic marketing and communications, having worked with brands in the US and Australia in the specialty food and wine industry before moving into research. My academic and professional interests are at the boundary between marketing and management with a socio-cultural focus on how public opinion and markets are shaped by social evaluations and institutions.I am interested in pursuing research that uses an interpretive, interdisciplinary approach drawing from the sociology of markets, communication and consumption. Further, my interest areas are in institutional theory, cultural discourse, and consumer culture theory—linking to studies in strategy, services, and organizational & marketing communications. My dissertation work explored the institutional dynamics and social-emotions in the US medical market for assisted reproductive technology (ART), specifically the category of third-party reproduction (donor conception).
