About Anna Holman
As a part of the climbing community, I am passionate about using my PhD research to better understand how we represent the stories of climbers in theater and film. What stories do climbing bodies tell? What does the inclusion of diverse bodies and voices bring to both the climbing community and the study of performance? How does the climbing body inform the process and purpose of the performer in theater and film? I aim to emulate the climbing community's current push for inclusivity in my classroom as professor. I believe that every student brings a unique and valuable perspective to theater studies and academia more broadly. I encourage critical thinking in my classroom to understand theater and performance within its historical, cultural, and social contexts and also invite students to think about how the material impacts their own lives.
