My position includes a variety of responsibilities, including technical project support and project management. I perform field data collection such as environmental sampling (soil, groundwater, soil vapor) as well as data analysis and presentation. I have strong technical writing skills that I utilize both in routine reporting as well as for work plans, regulatory documents, and public correspondence. In my project management duties, I draft budgets, manage schedules and task lists for my projects, as well as coordinate with vendors and subcontractors. I routinely interact and collaborate with my clients and regulators.

I have assisted with various experiments during my employment. I gained experience running samples on a GC-FID autosampler. My work has included research on remediation techniques for chlorinated solvents as well as thermal monitoring of subsurface petroleum degradation sites. I have also helped to process cryogenic core from various regions of the U.S.; this included cutting the core, taking samples, and using different extraction techniques to analyze the samples for various contaminants. I am currently starting research on the longevity of benzene at petroleum degradation sites. This job has developed my problem solving skills as well as my independence.

As a peer educator, I facilitated learning to fellow students managing difficult courses. I tutored Physics 1 and 2 for engineers, as well as Physics 1 and 2 for non-engineers (primarily health and exercise science majors). My main goal as a tutor was to help the students learn how they learn, so that they could facilitate their own understanding. This manifested in sharing problem-solving strategies as well as study habits. I worked alongside a team of tutors for several disciplines. We continually learned from each other the best ways to facilitate learning, encourage an upset student, and invoke a passion for excellence. I learned how to share my knowledge in several different ways, always searching for the explanation that would "click" for a given student.
