Working with O2X was a great experience and introduction to the fast-paced startup world. I was initially contracted in the Operations department coordinating logistics for wellness workshops across the country for a force of 80+ contracted employees. Part of that role included developing more efficient and effective business processes and organizing the digital collaboration environment. I had the pleasure of working closely with the Director of Content to update course offerings and manage content. I contributed a section on injury prevention and recovery to O2X's published curriculum book. My second project with O2X involved running movement screenings and body composition analysis for all of Boston Fire.

I discovered Marathon Sports through a presentation they did on how footwear affects gait in my Lower Extremity Evaluation class. They added at the end of it that they were happy to have students in our field work for them, as we provide a more technical insight to their services. I happened to be looking for a new job that supplemented my education, and this was the perfect fit and timing.Working at Marathon Sports consists of a 6 week training block as well as an initial full time, learning-centered schedule. We provided gait analysis and personalized fit assessment in order to select optimal shoe type for runners and walkers. We also used our personal and professional knowledge to assist customers with training, apparel, and nutrition. The focus was on creating an environment for the customer in which their experience is really personalized. It's about seeing and helping the whole person, not just finding them shoes.

I worked with a MSAT student, a DPT student, and a DPT/PhD Biomechanics Researcher and Professor to establish a journal club. The purpose of the club was to create a place for students across disciplines to review biomechanics and coaching and to find common language when discussing movement. It has hosted collaborations between students and professionals from Athletic Training, Rehabilitation Sciences, Human Physiology, Kinesiology, Biomedical Engineering, Physical Therapy, Strength and Conditioning, and more.I developed and presented the first draft of my presentation regarding the practical implementation of technologies, "Making the Subjective Objective: Developing Methods for both Sports Medicine and Sports Performance", for this club. This project was the launching point for my company, AArrow, which is still currently in development; it has taken a sideline to focus on my current career. I'm looking forward to expanding on this topic and creating an educational platform for Athletic Trainers, other Sports Medicine professionals, and coaches regarding commercially available technologies and their practical implications.
