About Anna Abram

Anna Abram is a dynamic health policy thought leader with experience advancing policy at the highest levels of the federal government. Ms. Abram served as the Deputy Commissioner for Policy, Planning, Legislation, and Analysis and then as the Deputy Commissioner for Policy, Legislation, and International Affairs at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration from 2017 to 2021. In this senior leadership role, Ms. Abram played a critical role in overseeing the development and implementation of key policy initiatives to advance public health and led the Office of Policy, Legislation and International Affairs. Ms. Abram also has over a decade of experience working on health care policy on Capitol Hill, including serving as the Health Policy Director to U.S. Senator Richard Burr at the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions from 2009 to 2017. During her tenure working in the United States Senate, Ms. Abram played a key role in advancing bipartisan legislation supporting innovation for patients and strengthening our nation's public health, including medical and public health preparedness and response. Earlier in her career, Ms. Abram served as an Associate Director at the Domestic Policy Council at The White House from 2007 to 2009. During her time working at The White House, Ms. Abram worked on a range of health care policy issues, including the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
