At South Pole I managed the climate solutions services and growth in Finland and the Baltic countries, including managing my own team. My role was client facing, supporting and advising clients to choose the best sustainability path for them, and internally finding and developing the most suitable solutions and expertise to provide them.

Project manager in customers’ sustainability projects related to carbon neutral business strategies, sustainability leadership and reporting.

Working at FIBS, the leading Corporate Responsibility network in Finland, I was faced with environmental issues of the largest Finnish businesses almost every day. I worked together with environmental and sustainability specialists from large industrial companies and public sector organisations (including all the biggest forestry companies in Finland and key players of the construction, manufacturing and mining industry) supporting their initiatives and strategies to improve their environmental performance. I worked together with different international organizations (e.g. CDP, Natural Capital Coalition, GRI, WBCSD, the EU Commission, IUCN), consultants and other specialists on developing and finding the best ways possible to reduce the negative environmental impact of Finnish businesses.

At Demos Helsinki I worked as a consultant in the resource smart economy team, creating value from sustainability for public sector clients. I worked with conducting research, creating new service concepts and organized and facilitated workshops. I held speeches, wrote reports and taught innovation at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. Constantly working with customers, it was important for me to understand their needs and desires. As the primary objective of Demos Helsinki is to have a positive impact on society, I worked hard to make sure that every project outcome was in line with this goal.

I wrote the empirical part and conducted the research for an article titled: Energy Efficiency in Buildings in the City of Helsinki - A Long Run Sustainability Transition. The article is largely based on my Master’s Thesis. I interviewed specialists, read articles and backed up the findings and conclusions I had made in my Master’s Thesis. I also prepared the poster presentation. I am the second writer in the article and my Master’s Thesis is the most used reference. The article will be published later this year.

I wrote my Master’s Thesis on the Effects of Building Regulation on Energy Use and Greenhouse Gas Emissions. The research was a cooperation between the Finnish Environment Institute, the Ministry of the Environment and Helen Oy. Helen Oy provided me with exact data on the heat energy use in apartment buildings in Helsinki, which I analyzed. I used earlier research to back up my findings and interviewed several specialists and met up with facility managers. All the involved parties were very pleased with the outcome of my work, and the Finnish Environment Institute hired me to co-write an academic article on the subject.
