About Dr Anna Marazuela K.
website: https://www.amkim.net/Dr Anna Marazuela Kim is an international advisor, cultural historian and critic who works at the intersection of culture, conflict, urban futures, civic agency and human thriving with innovative institutes of advanced study, universities and industry internationally. Most recently she delivered a keynote at the Nobel Peace Center on the subject of Culture as a Human Right and was tapped for her expertise on building the first district of arts and culture in Kyiv, Ukraine before the start of the war. She has a long history of activism and continues to support cultural workers and artists in exile.Dr Kim is regularly invited to speak, write and advise on issues of critical contemporary concern on platforms as diverse as NATO and FRIEZE, on the vital role of culture, placemaking and aesthetics in civic thriving; the public role of museums in response to humanitarian disaster and crises; iconoclasm, terrorism and the culture wars; and the ethical challenges of the image in the digital age. A US-trained academic and award-winning professional, Dr Kim came to London as the Andrew Mellon Fellow at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London and has been a Fellow of the Institute of Advanced Studies at UCL, Associate of the Centre for Strategic Communications at King's College London, and Senior Fellow at the Free University, Berlin. In addition to Mellon awards, her work has been supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council; the National Endowment for the Humanities; the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft; and Samuel Kress Foundation, among many others. In industry, she was one of the only academics to be hired at Foster + Partners global studio in London, where she worked on sustainability and resilient design across the applied humanities. More recently she helped build a new research and partnerships programme for London Metropolitan University, where taught on an MA module on Public Art and Performative Practice, and was curator of a new Project Space in Venice, among other initiatives.Full CV here: https://www.amkim.net/pagecv
