Our thematic goals are focused on Medicare-Medicaid Integration, Person-Centered Care, and Long-Term Care Financing. As Board Chair, I advise on strategic goals, grant-making, and technology and provide financial governance. Saw through the Foundation’s establishment of a new corporate subsidiary, and the pilot launch of the first funded business with entrepreneur Socialize – providing subscription-based socialization apps, platforms, and digital tools for older adults.

Encantos is a story teaching platform connecting creators with kids to inspire them to learn 21st-century skills – named by Fast Company as one of the “World’s Most Innovative Companies in Education.”I was appointed to this newly created Chief Impact Officer (CIO) to develop, lead and implement the Encantos’ growth strategy strategic partnerships, corporate and public affairs, and community impact activities. Additionally, I also lead as President of Encantos.org, a new non-profit focused on advancing the understanding of the importance of 21st-century learning, literacy, and life skills for children through the development of research, programs, and fellowships.Both Encantos and the Foundation are quickly scaling in growth across employees, subscribers and revenue via a focus on bringing diverse stories and characters to life through transformational apps, books, content, consumer products, and more. The NSBA is the leading advocate for public education, representing 49 state school boards associations and one territory association, and their over 90,000 locally elected school board members. Led as Executive Director, CEO, ex-officio director on the NSBA’s Board of Directors, and first person of color to lead the NSBA. To advance the association’s mission, serve its members, and champion educational equity, I directed a 65-person diverse team of policy, member services, legal, communications, and business experts. During my tenure, I optimized the organization’s overall strategy, structure, and brought in new C-level executives to lead over key business areas, while also successfully guiding the organization’s finances successfully during the COVID pandemic.To increase brand recognition, we brought in iconic strategic partnerships including with Bella + Canvas and Serena Williams to create programs including “Women in Leadership,” “Masks for Kids,” “Dismantling Institutionalized Racism in Education” and “Homework Gap.”

I was appointed as the NCOA’s first-ever Executive Vice President and Chief Growth Officer, after successfully leading the organization through a strategic learning process that engaged the NCOA staff, Board of Directors, and external partners to position the 66-year-old organization for greater, future-focused social impact. To ensure the successful transformation of this legacy organization, I oversaw the NCOA’s strategic, financial, and operational direction, ensuring effective fiscal, operations, funding, marketing, consumer experience, human capital, technology, and culture strategies were implemented across all segments of the organization.During a pivotal time of transition, change and growth, I partnered with the Board on the new CEO selection process due to the outgoing CEO’s retirement, and also led the recruiting of a new Chief Customer Officer, Chief Marketing/Business Development Officer, and the organization’s first CIO.

In this role, I led wide-ranging areas including NCOA’s policy, advocacy, marketing, communications, fund development, strategic partnership development, and community network. In delivering a multi-faceted transformation across the entire organization, we restructured and streamlined key areas, brought in new staff with specific skillsets, established partnerships, and secured significant funds via fundraising and grants. We achieved NCOA’s 2020 social impact goal one year early. Additionally, established and maximized digital capabilities through upgrading the technology, IT infrastructure, and data storage inside the organization. For our members, we delivered digital products that allowed the older population to easily access federal and state benefits and local service providers.

Selected to lead the largest non-profit and leadership organization for girls in the world, engaging 2.7 million girls and volunteers in more than 92 countries and with over 100 local Girl Scout councils across the U.S. In this role, I developed and operationalized the Girl Scouts “tech renaissance” strategy that introduced Digital Cookie as a 21st-century learning experience in girls’ entrepreneurial and digital skills – resulting in $800M in cookie sales. Additionally, I drove awareness by partnering with Sheryl Sandberg and Condoleezza Rice for the highly recognized Girl Scouts’ Ban Bossy campaign.During my tenure, I fully digitized operations and executed marketing campaigns to increase membership of young girls and secure corporate and organizational support as an investment in the future of the U.S
