Transitioned from IT to Global Planning team member. Responsible for Specialty Additives Business Unit – placing orders with 3rd party manufacturers, reviewing stock levels, setting safety stock, verifying correct MRP settings, managing expiration of material, holding monthly S&OP Meetings with Product Managers, holding weekly planning meetings with tollers, reviewing material ship dates, and working closely with Customer Service. Used SAP GlobalOne R/3 for Purchase Orders, Stock/Inventory, Shelf Life, MRP Settings, Source List, and Sales History.

A few yrs after working for International Specialty Products (ISP) as an IBM mainframe programmer, the mainframe was outsourced to focus on the implementation of an ERP solution. I transitioned to an IBM AS400 systems programmer, and then assumed more roles and responsibilities - iSeries systems administrator, System21/JBA administrator, iSeries & System21 security administrator, Outsourcer Account Manager. In the beginning I managed 4 separate servers - 3 production & 1 development - physically located on 3 different continents looked after by 3 separate outsourcers. Server & security administration work was also decentralized among ISP employees, with those admins taking some direction from but not reporting to me. In 2001 the ERP system was overhauled to globalize and centralize customization and administration, a huge undertaking that affected almost every part of the ERP. At the same time, a server consolidation project was initiated using IBM’s logical partitioning. I participated in the global search for a new outsourcer (none of the existing outsourcers won the contract), and in 2002 I managed the entire consolidation and outsourcing project, working closely with the consolidation expert at the outsourcing company. The ERP system was successfully moved onto 1 server maintained by a new outsourcer with no major issues, saving the company $720,000 annually. In 2005 and 2008, I managed hardware upgrades to Power5 and Power6 servers respectively, and OS software plus all non-IBM software (ROBOT/Schedule, MKS Implementer, Vertex US Sales tax, MRC, OPTIO/400, and various security softwares like Bsafe & PowerTech) were upgraded throughout the years as required. In addition, I was responsible for Disaster Recovery, first at IBM’s DR Center in Sterling Forest, NY, then using Vision Solution’s iTera HA Software for real-time replication in 2010. I had 2 direct reports. ISP was purchased by Ashland Inc in August 2011 & in 2013, my position was eliminated.

One of 3 mainframe programmers responsible for all hardware and software (MVS/XA) plus mainframe security. The bank was declared insolvent by the FDIC in May 1991.
