About Anna Mulé Mcray, Mds, Cem, Flo, Efo, Nemea

As the Assistant Director of Emergency Management at New Hanover County, I lead the county's emergency management program, which encompasses disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation initiatives. With over five years of experience in this role, and more than 15 years in state and local government emergency management coupled with more than 35 years in Emergency Medical Services, government , I successfully coordinate the county's emergency operations center, manage the emergency public information and warning systems, and facilitate the training and exercise of emergency personnel and stakeholders with a team of six to make NHC and the region safer and better prepared. I hold a Master of Disaster Science degree and a graduate certificate in Disaster Science from the University of Richmond, as well as a National Emergency Management Advanced Academy (NEMAA) certificate from the FEMA Emergency Management Institute. I am a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program, one of select few civilian emergency managers to achieve this designation. I have published research on the disaster resiliency of adult congregate care facilities and preparedness efforts of public safety responders, and I have been honored as a Hometown Hero and a panel speaker for my contributions to the field. I am passionate about enhancing the preparedness, response, and recovery capabilities of New Hanover County and its communities, and I leverage my skills and knowledge to support and empower them in the face of any hazard.
