About Anna Morrison
For hundreds of years we have observed the arts as a force to propel social change, and in the present social and political climate of our society it is more important than ever for all artists and arts organizations realize our responsibility to open minds and change hearts to better our society. Since moving to Los Angeles to study Arts Management, I've been lucky to widely expand my worldview incredibly quickly as I soak in everything there is to learn in a city so rich in arts and culture, diverse communities, and institutions of all sizes and disciplines. When I set myself on track to achieve my Master's Degree I found a passion for creating space for artists and audiences to connect, learn from each other, and find passion, joy, and hope in the arts. Using the perspective I have gained through my studies and experiences in Los Angeles I am committed to spending my career bolstering equity and inclusivity in all spaces I create and occupy, and fostering a culture of open communication to ensure all parties within an organization or project feel their views and needs are being accommodated. I intend to carry this commitment to institutions and cities big and small to do my part to create more prolific and socially productive artistic spaces for all. Having grown up a Yooper (term for people of Upper Michigan) I bring a perspective of sustainability and environmental consciousness to all my work. Yoopers are taught to be incredibly caring for their everyone in their community, whether or not they personally know each individual, and I carry this value with me to the urban communities I am now a part of. I am a passionate advocate for my LGBTQIA+ peers of all identities under that umbrella, and a fierce ally for all who are alienated or discriminated against by those who hold power in our society.
