PhD Title: "Mechanisms of irradiation creep in nickel: a multi-technique experimental study"Main field of research:Irradiation Creep, Self-Diffusion, Dislocation, Materials ScienceAdvanced nuclear materials are one of the key factors for safe and reliable operation of future fission and fusion reactors, where they have to withstand extreme conditions. Here irradiation creep becomes important, but the actual models cannot completely explain the experiment evidences.The goal of the present study is to correlate the main material responses to stress and irradiation, in order to develop a new model in the irradiation creep theory, where diffusion plays an important role.Irradiation creep tests were performed in a unique in-situ creep device under uniaxial tensile stresses during homogeneous proton irradiation. By using this setup, the effects of loading direction with respect to the Ni lattice orientation on irradiation creep compliance (B0), was studied. The impacts of stress/strain on the irradiation-enhanced self-diffusion, will be studied using SIMS. TEM analysis will be performed to study the influence of applied stress on density and size distribution of dislocation loops.All the results will lead to completely new evidences that can help to understand the origin of irradiation creep.
