About Anna Tadlock
Mission Statement: Encourage learning and furthering education with equity, respect, leadership, collaboration, and values that meet various and unique student needs.In my professional experience as an EWU student, English Composition Instructor, and Substitute Teacher at PRIDE Schools in Spokane, I have encouraged furthering education and learning through many means. Ultimately, I have noticed that identifying student/learner needs and values before offering guidance is crucial. Without identifying the unique values and needs, it is difficult to get the student/learner motivated to grow. Furthermore, gaining respect and rapport with the student/learner encourages collaborative learning that benefits the student/learner and myself simultaneously.Values are important in the workplace and learning environment because values shape what people are passionate about. Without values, workers/learners cannot be guided to what is important to them, thus creating an inefficient work and/or learning environment. It is important to find peers’ and students’ values to form an effective plan to ensure for success. Once values are identified, plans can be put in place to encourage learning and growth surrounding those specific values.Education is crucial not only to improve skills and learning, but also to grow as an individual. Furthermore, by making sure equity is included in learning, unique needs of students can be met. For example, some learners may need time to themselves to recharge, as some social situations may be overwhelming. Though time to yourself is necessary for some, collaboration is needed to learn and grow as a leader. It is better to have more than one way of thinking regarding education, as learning is not a linear concept. For example, learners have many successes, but also have many failures that they learn from. Without failure, there is no progress.
