As a member of Dr. David Brafman's lab in ASU's School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering, I employed an isogenic-based approach to investigate the mechanisms underlying Alzheimer’s disease. I worked extensively with human-induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs), culturing and differentiating them into neurons, astrocytes, and microglia and utilized techniques such as Western Blotting, ELISAs, and immunofluorescence. Additionally, I generated isogenic cell lines using advanced CRISPR Prime Editing and Base Editing technologies, facilitating the creation of specific genetic variants for more precise research applications.

Geneva, Switzerland

As a research assistant in the Daphne Bavelier lab in Geneva, Switzerland, I collaborated on a study examining brain plasticity mechanisms across perceptual and cognitive domains. We collected EEG data from 80 screened participants, who were immersed in action video game play to investigate the neural bases of the flow state. Given the small team and large participant pool, I took on multiple roles beyond data collection and analysis. I gained valuable experience in participant recruitment, data repository management, and dataset organization, updating, and versioning to ensure all materials were accessible, current, and well-maintained. Working in an international research setting allowed me to further develop my cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.
