Founder and director of the Centre for Public Data, a non-profit, non-partisan organisation with a mission to improve the UK’s public data. We work to improve data provisions in new legislation and policy. We want new Government policies to make best use of existing datasets and data practice, so policies are more likely to succeed; collect performance data that lets civil society and the public understand if policies are working; and share the operational data that lets businesses innovate. We think data is at the heart of modern policymaking, and are keen to work with Parliamentarians, civil servants and civil society stakeholders who agree.

- Led technical product development at Flourish, the UK's biggest data visualisation startup (since acquired by Canva)- Flourish was backed by two of the world's leading seed funds, and clients included Google, GSK, WPP, Fannie Mae, EY, the World Bank and the BBC- Chief product officer: one of three C-level roles in the company, supporting the CEO with organisational strategy and product roadmap, also working on ops and hiring- Senior developer across the full stack of the product, writing tests and building features

Technical director and co-founder of Oxford University's Evidence-Based Medicine DataLab (now the Bennett Institute for Applied Data Science). This was a new, cross-disciplinary research lab that combined clinicians, epidemiologists and software developers. - Took large datasets and turned them into traditional academic research papers, also built live, interactive data-driven tools. Wrote ETL pipelines for ingestion and analysis of large datasets (Postgres, BigQuery, Python/pandas, Jupyter)- Sole developer and product owner on beta of OpenPrescribing.net, which provides fast search and analysis of >1bn rows of GP prescribing data. Designed and built the product (Django, Postgres, JavaScript)- Honorary Research Fellow of the university: co-authored papers with researchers and statisticians, e.g. "Variation in responsiveness to warranted behaviour change among NHS clinicians" (BMJ 2019)- Helped scale the DataLab team from 2 people to 10, hiring software developers, pharmaceutical experts, and academic researchers

- Software developer on the GOV.UK Performance Platform team, working as a team of developers to monitor and visualise performance metrics across government services, working primarily in JavaScript - Also worked on the GOV.UK data science team: various projects, including authoring Python package that used statistical methods to automatically identify characteristics of users who failed to register for services, which successfully identified several bugs in live GOV.UK services
