As an exceptionally motivated and highly adaptable individual, I have found immense enjoyment in my role as Graduate Programs Coordinator for the MPH and Epidemiology PhD programs at VCU. The many demands of these flourishing programs require meticulous attention to detail, focus, and enthusiasm. I sincerely enjoy being a part of this dynamic graduate program. I have a passion for writing and editing. My graduate studies allowed me to hone these skills and merge them with a budding interest in medical writing as I learned to expertly perform detailed literature searches, write literature reviews, and edit both medical and technical works. These years of intense focus on technical and medical writing and editing culminated in a Capstone project through which I illustrated the ways medical information (specifically pharmaceutical inserts and medication instructions) is often misunderstood and misinterpreted by the public for reasons both educational and cultural, and highlighted proposed solutions to work to bridge many of these gaps. My experience with editing, revising, and formatting scientific manuscripts, tables, and reference pages for scholarly journal submissions has given me the opportunity to demonstrate my keen editorial eye, exceptional knowledge of AP and AMA formats, and ability to condense highly technical information. For me, one of the most advantageous parts of being a medical writer or editor is the opportunity to utilize these skills for which I have so much enthusiasm, but to also broaden my exposure to and familiarity with current medical literature.
