I worked with Dr. Mario Gonzalez and Dr. David Rodriguez on the project "Development of Molecular Diagnostic Technologies for Age-Related Diseases." My key responsibilities included developing a new systematic review proposal, reviewing literature, and proposing a systematic review to potentially be further develop, which I did on targeting cellular senescence in neurodegenerative diseases in preclinical studies. Systematic reviews (SRs) have shown that a priori reviews of animal literature could indicate whether there was reasonable evidence to proceed from animal to clinical development for some interventions that failed in clinical trials. Thus, the objective of my proposal is to assess whether preclinical findings on senotherapies can be translated into clinical practice by evaluating the strength of the preclinical evidence.Additionally, I participated in journal clubs, which further developed my time management, data synthesis, and critical thinking skills. This internship provided me with the necessary steps to produce a rigorous synthesis of the literature.

AureoBos: Recombinant Enzibiotics as The Future of Non-Antibiotic Bovine Mastitis TreatmentAwarded:- Best Food & Nutrition Project- Best Entrepreneurship- Best Integrated Human Practices Nomination- Gold MedalI led the mathematical model area of the project where a deterministic protein induction model was built, implemented a monte carlo simulation, estimated unknown parameters trough a genetic algorithm and utilized response surface methodology to optimize AureoBos’ formulation for maximizing bactericidal activity. Developed the wiki’s model page building it upon html5, CSS and Javascript.
