Anna Sandy Elrod is a writer, editor, and Lecturer in English at Kennesaw State University. She holds a BA in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from the University of Memphis and both an MFA and PhD in Poetry from Georgia State University, and has previously taught in the English departments at Georgia State University and Georgia Highlands College. She was the Editor in Chief of New South Journal from 2017-2020 and now serves as the Editor in Chief and co-founder of joint projects Birdcoat Quarterly and Ghost Peach Press. Her poetry and creative nonfiction can be found in journals such as Pleiades, Threepenny Review, North American Review, Iron Horse, and FUGUE. Her essay “The Number of Hair” was named a Best American Essays 2021 Notable and her poem "Only Two" was selected as the winner of the 2020 Prism Review Poetry Prize. She has presented at conferences such as PAMLA, PCA/ACA, and the Austin International Poetry Festival, among others.
