Carbon Engineering (CE) is commercializing technology to capture carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere, which we will use to enable production of ultra-low carbon fuels. Air capture of CO2 enables large facilities to manage emissions from any source or location so that industrial economies of scale can be applied to the large fraction of emissions that come from distributed and mobile sources such as vehicles, airplanes, and buildings. Air capture can provide pure CO2 at point of demand for industrial use, and atmospheric CO2 can be used via multiple production pathways to manufacture ultra-low emissions fuels.CE’s technology strategy is to develop a low-risk, chemical-based CO2 air capture system that we can bring to market in the near-term with competitive economics. Our air capture system combines proven, scalable industrial technologies with CE’s proprietary designs and innovations.

The BIC Group of companies comprise an international consumer products corporation and a world leader in stationery, lighters, shavers and promotional products. In 2011, BIC acquired Angstrom Power’s hydrogen and fuel cell technology to support its in-house next generation technology development programs.Retained following acquisition as a core member of BIC BC leadership team with expanded responsibilities in both legal and R&D departments of BIC Corporation. Led teams with technical, legal and business functions to support merger of BIC and Angstrom technologies to create a commercializable micro fuel cell product.

Angstrom Power was a privately funded North Vancouver-based R&D start-up focused on developing micro fuel cells for portable power applications. As part of the management team, led a team of attorneys and engineers to develop and adapt strategic plans for IP and regulatory portfolios to align with changing business needs including technology development, restructuring, licensing, and asset sale.

Led management and growth of company’s intellectual property portfolio, including team of patent engineers and IP administrator to build and enhance protection of intellectual property assets worldwide. Led development of international transport regulations and standards to establish global framework for micro fuel cell technology.

Assisted company’s Chief Technology Officer with overall management of the growing intellectual property portfolio of an early-stage, venture-capital funded start-up. Developed novel micro fuel cell and hydrogen storage technology as part of research and development team. Mapped nascent regulatory landscape surrounding hydrogen and fuel cell technology.
