The Undergraduate Studies' Office of Academic Advocacy (OAA) assists undergraduate students in achieving timely progression to graduation and supports key strategic university goals and measures, including enhancements to USF's Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) first-year retention rate and the four-year graduation rate.-Interpreted and analyzed predictive analytics data to determine future trends in obstacles to student persistence and graduation-Created personalized outreach to students identified as at-risk for not persisting into the next semester or off track with four-year to six-year graduation-Utilized case management to assist students with understanding institutional policies and processes, identify options for degree completion, and resolve institutional barriers to graduation through coordination of multiple university offices-Served as a liaison and resource for the university on all academic information related to retention and presented to internal/external audiences to disseminate and enhance USF's retention strategies

The Academic Foundations Seminar course is designed to facilitate undergraduate students' successful acclimation to the University, development of academic strategies, and exploration of careers and majors.

INTO USF is a partnership between University of South Florida and INTO, a corporation based out of the United Kingdom that connects international students with universities in the U.K., U.S., and China. The Pathway Program provides international graduate and undergraduate students with college preparedness and access to the University of South Florida while globalizing our student body.- Advise 150+ graduate students in the College of Engineering Pathway on INTO USF and university policies, procedures, and progression requirements- Advise students on course selection to ensure timely degree completion and register students for courses - Assist students with adjusting to American culture and U.S. university system- Conduct New Student Orientation workshops- Leverage University technology such as Banner, GradesFirst, Canvas, FileMaker, and Access to increase outreach to students, collaborate with faculty about student progress, and ensure students have access to necessary support services- Educate students on effective time management skills, academic integrity, course selection process, and career planning through individual advising and group workshops- Manage confidential student records

The Online Educational Institute (OEI) at Post University caters to traditional students as well as busy adult learners and offers online Associates, Bachelors, and Masters degree programs.- Provided guidance to a caseload of 200 students in regards to academic progress, course selection, degree selection, and University policies- Coached and counseled students on strategies for success, ability to overcome obstacles, and on effective interactions with University personnel- Advocated for students' needs across all departments of the University- Leveraged University technology systems to enhance relationships with, and services for, students

The Special Education department implements services such as individualized education plans for students in need of in-school assistance due to learning disabilities or social anxiety.- Provided in-classroom support for students with needs in reading comprehension, organizing of ideas, and working with groups - Worked one-on-one with students in the special education classroom to help students practice study skills, note taking skills, and writing skills- Collaborated with teachers to provide students with class notes

The Academic Success Center houses the College's academic tutoring services. As a former tutor, I enjoyed the opportunity to learn about the daily operations of the Center's tutor training program and to contribute to its success.- Overhauled the tutor training program, which resulted in successful Level I CRLA certificaiton- Researched best practices in order to develop relevant learning goals, outcomes, and assessments for each tutor training curriculum- Used Blackboard Learn to implement the tutor training program to tutors and to monitor tutor progress

The Office of Student Retention Services is responsible for student academic success, retention, and graduation. The office serves at-risk students who are re-enrolling after an extensive absence or are on academic/progress probation/suspension.- Advised, counseled, and referred at-risk students using the Appreciative and Developmental advising methods- Coached students on effective study skills, how to appropriately communicate with professors, and coping strategies for stressful life moments- Informed students of available academic and support services- Performed graduation audits- Engaged in professional development by attending departmental and interdepartmental Directors' meetings and observing developmental courses

The LALCC is a resource center where students have access to tutoring, advising, computer privileges, and a multimedia resource library. The Latino University Success Program is a college readiness program funded by the Connecticut College Access and Success (ConnCAS) grant out of the Office of Higher Education. The program is designed to increase college access and retention for Latino/a and Hispanic students who demonstrate financial and academic need. My contributions to program improvement included initiating training and development for student peer advisers; developing and managing an online program application process; and developing a project plan and associated procedures. - Managed a five-week grant funded summer program for 24 Latino/a students- Organized a year-long mentoring program and worked alongside faculty and staff to provide continuous academic and emotional support to students who completed the Latino University Success Program during the summer- Managed the recruiting efforts for high school students and hiring process for peer counselors- Organized and chaperoned weekly cultural activities and field trips- Prepared program reports for the Office of Higher Education- Managed confidential student files, purchase and requisition documents, and budget expenses- Organized Orientation and Welcome Day events for students and their families
