ENG 095: Basic Writing I ENG 096: Basic Writing II ENG 101: English Composition ENG 102: English CompositionEnglish 95 is designed to help students see themselves as writers. The class focuses on fluency. Students write multiple essays culminating in a portfolio crafted for an audience consisting of writing faculty. English 96 builds on the skills learned in English 95 and also requires students to demonstrate improved critical thinking. Students do multiple revisions which culminate in a portfolio crafter for an audience of writing faculty. English 101 is designed to help students write papers for a variety of general and specific audiences. Students will learn to recognize features that make writing effective, and learn different strategies writers use while prewriting, drafting, revising, and editing. English 102 uses an ethnographic approach and focuses on the processes of academic inquiry and source-supported writing, while continuing to practice prewriting, drafting, revising, and editing strategies.

ENG 101: English Composition (first-year writing program) ENG 102: English Composition (first-year writing program) English 101 prepares students for complex college writing by focusing on critical thinking and reading and expository writing. English 102 follows English 101 and is designed to teach students to compose both argumentative and research papers.

Students develop critical thinking skills, the ability to work through the writing process, and to write expository, analytical, and argumentative essays.

ENG 131: First Year English I ENG 132: First Year English II English 131 teaches students how to write well-developed, well-organized, grammatically correct essays by focusing on critical thinking and reading.
