Working on behalf of educational institutions, I advise schools, colleges, universities, academic medical centers and organizations that support them on compliance, operations, and resolving disputes and crises. I focus on Education regulatory advising—including Title IV Federal Student Aid and related matters (accreditation; mergers and acquisitions; governance; Title IX, disability, and other nondiscrimination; Clery Act; consumer disclosures; privacy; and contracts),healthcare education (including healthcare-entity programs, graduate medical education, and clinical education); and evolving legal issues related to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at educational institutions. My goal is to help institutions prevent problems so they can focus on their missions. I do that through advising on institutional and program structure (including mergers and acquisitions and graduate medical education program development), legal compliance and systems audits, policy and student matters, investigations, training, and general counsel services. As needed, I assist institutions in responding to regulatory and accreditor investigations and actions, resolving disputes, and litigation. My prior litigation experience—arriving on the scene after issues arose—rounds out my understanding of how to prevent challenges, support institutions and their communities, and help position them for future success.I am honored to work with a team of dedicated Education attorneys who offer a depth of knowledge on the range of legal issues confronting higher education and K-12 institutions.Comments or opinions expressed here are my own.
