Conducted research on potential growth opportunities with private sector and government donors with a focus on PPPs, access to finance, TVET support, etc. Focused on growing youth economic opportunity work across the company. Additionally, led a team to conduct a process efficiency review on team and client communication to ensure that quality management system is up-to-date and effective.

Lusaka, Zambia

Led a livelihood restoration program focused on training farmers, who have lost their farms due to improved water and sewage systems, in business start-up and management. Responsible for a 6 person team and 20+ consultants, overseeing operations, finances, and logistics, as well as working with the technical team to improve and implement business development trainings.

Conducted research for two professors regarding innovation, social enterprise development and entrepreneurship. Researched Intellectual Property Rights, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in ECOWAS, specifically focused on the impact of reforms and IPR on fostering innovation and economic growth. Developed a strategy for incorporating a demand driven education to workforce development program at a Jesuit University Institute in Cote d’Ivoire. This strategy was developed through an analysis of current programs implemented by academic institutions, private sector, and not-for-profit, identifying gaps and successes. It is ultimately made up of 4 steps: 1) market assessment and linkages, 2) partnership & curriculum development, 3) training & course initiatives, 4) mentoring, incubation, & job placement. Also, helped coordinate and design a course on Innovation and Entrepreneurship for graduate level students at Georgetown.

Conducted extensive analysis of the Washington DC based private sector and entrepreneurship ecosystem to identify entry points for UNDP to enter into public private partnerships. Wrote report and developed short and long-term recommendations regarding how to leverage their projects and relationships in DC to support PPPs around the world. Engaged various stakeholders to conduct analysis, including oil and gas companies, hospitality industry, the State Department, Business Call to Action, and other relevant players.

Istanbul, Turkey

Worked with the sustainability office within the Eurasia-Africa Group to strengthen and develop public private partnerships with the UNDP and UN My World following the annual Sustainability Awards, which honors bottling companies for their work toward implementing safety measures, moving toward becoming water neutral, recycling, and effectively including women and minorities along the supply chain. Was responsible for research and analysis for developing partnerships, which resulted in presentations, participating in relevant meetings, and developing communication documents, including a brief for a meeting with President Obama. Played a significant role in identifying and initiating a partnership between UNDP Global Alliance for Sustainable Employment, which focuses on promoting new approaches to skills development.

Human Development Network - Education

Conducted an analysis of the impact of private education on learning achievement through review of 17 impact evaluations conducted worldwide. Drafted an “Evidence Brief” summarizing the findings with recommendations on where to focus future impact evaluations, and drawbacks to the current literature.

Tripoli, Libya

Developed a strategic framework and coordinated approach to youth development with a focus on workforce development programming in conjunction with the TVET Department in Libya. This involved conducting education and labor market assessments for women and youth in order to ensure a demand driven approach to workforce development in a post-conflict environment. Used the strategic framework to engage potential partners and donors, including oil and gas companies. Also, managed Child Protection Program in five camps around Tripoli focusing on Youth Programming, which allowed for a broader spectrum of understanding of different youth groups that needed to be incorporated into the overall strategy, as different youth populations had varying needs from psycho-social to civil to economic.

Kurmuk, Sudan

Worked with the community to stabilize the secondary education system in Kurmuk through extensive stakeholder meetings, and infrastructure improvements.Mobilized key stakeholders to enhance economic development of Kurmuk, a trading town on the Ethiopian and South Sudan border, through design for construction of a physical market place. To ensure the physical space met the growing needs, supported traders association to strengthen linkages to larger markets in the region through the design and implementation of value chain assessments. Conducted community workshops and meetings with key stakeholders, including women and youth to identify community needs and priorities for increased economic development, improved education, and civil engagement. Managed the Kurmuk field office, including programs, security, logistics, 10 staff and $300,000 budget.

Kabul, Afghanistan

Coordinated implementation of USAID funded Community Based Education (CBE) program in 4 provinces. Liaised with economic development team and established sustainable entrepreneurial activities for supporting government and community schools, which included community gardens, restaurant and food prep, uniform production, etc. Built staff capacity in International Network of Education in Emergencies (INEE) Minimum Standards, Community Mobilization, and program development. Was responsible for a $1 million annual budget, as well as providing analytic overview of program progress, highlighting achievements via indicators, strengths, weaknesses, challenges, constraints, lessons learned, and supporting implementation of recommendations.

Freetown, Sierra Leone

Provided technical assistance to a preventative youth and child labor project funded by USDOL in program implementation, and capacity building. Focused on the monitoring and evaluation systems, to ensure ease of use and ability to report information up and down reporting lines; as well as supporting local NGOs, including, performing program and financial assessments. These assessments created the base for providing programmatic and operational support to local partners focusing on skills training for youth and income generating activities, focused on strengthening administrative, financial, and reporting capacity. Additionally, provided guidance and quality control for donor reports and proposals for all projects funded by USAID, US Department of Labor, European Union, UN organizations, and other donors.

New York, Ny

Planned, coordinated and implemented 6 educational and psycho-social enhancement programs to assist newly-arrived refugee youth integrate into school. Provided advocacy and individual case-management to 60+ refugees. Coordinated and oversaw a summer program for 80 refugee and asylee youth with four full time teachers, three admin/assistant teachers, and 20+ classroom volunteers. Ultimately, oversaw the initial implementation of $1.5 million grant.
