As a member of the research team based at Ft. Bragg, N. C. I was responsible for the application of both traditional Prolonged Exposure Therapy treatment and Virtual Reality Exposure Treatment to study participants. I actively participated in the promotion and launch of the study. Dr. Reger, the principal investigator based in Tacoma. Washington, felt that my therapeutic style was not compatible with the necessary rigid compliance with the treatment protocol and ended my participation with the project.

As Director of Counseling I was responsible for providing supervision to a staff of 5 unlicensed master level therapists as well as four masters-level interns. I carried a small caseload of students and families identified as having complex problems, provided group therapy for students, and directed educational workshops for parents. I was an active team member in the management line and was Interim Director from March until the school's closing in July, 2011. I served as a school liaison, communicating with psychologists, educational consultants, and other professionals to explain the program and services offered by the school. I oversaw the counseling records and information regarding students and provided supervision of the maintenance, custody, and release of the confidential student records, including the use of BestNotes, the on line documentation service used by the school. I assisted in the rapid closure of the school, providing support and information to parents, employees, and outside professionals in the orderly return of students to their homes or to other therapeutic placements. The closure of the school resulted in the loss of my position.

I was engaged in solo private practice in Athens, GA, managing all aspects of my outpatient psychotherapy practice. I provided psychotherapy and psycho-diagnostic services to children, adolescents, and adults, as well as to couples and parents. I provided case consultation to case managers of children in foster care. I contracted in the past with Crisis Management International, an agency that provides crisis management services, and it was with this agency I provided Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and crisis counseling to corporate clients in NYC following 9-11 as well as occasional crisis interventions to businesses in northeast Georgia. Therapeutic orientation varied with client need but generally incorporated cognitive-behavioral and developmental approaches. I am trained in EMDR and studied Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Life Coaching. Areas of interest included crisis management and trauma recovery, Attention Deficit Disorder, attachment disorders, affective disorders, personality disorders, and Life Coaching/Positive Psychology.

I was a contract employee with a multidisciplinary outpatient private practice group in Racine, WI, providing outpatient psychotherapy and psychological assessments to a diverse range of clients. I left this position to return to the southeast and to start my own private practice.
