My goal is to ensure the compliance initiatives of our clients by providing innovative and in-depth expertise that achieves the ethical, regulatory and cultural needs of those clients. Prior to joining CTR as a Compliance Specialist, I served as a partner in a large corporate law firm for more than two decades, until I retired to spend more time with my family. The genesis of my legal career was founded in the exclusive representation of management/employers with respect to all aspects of the employment cycle - from hiring, to counseling through issues, to eventual termination and the defense of any discrimination, harassment, workers' compensation, grievance or wage and hour claims. I provided advice on all major employment laws including the FMLA, ADA and FLSA. Due to the Firm's volume of healthcare clients and related service providers, when the Privacy and Security Rules, found in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ("HIPAA") were enacted, it was essential that this regulatory framework be woven into our Labor & Employment ("L&E") practice group and I was selected as the lead attorney in this area. Since 1999, when the HIPAA proposed regulations were in their infancy, I have been intimately involved with this regulatory arena as it has developed, grown and, eventually with the advent of HITECH, I experienced, along with the Firm’s clients, the trend toward more stringent and focused regulatory enforcement activity.
