Working primarily on the Headwaters of the Exe project, part of South West Waters Upstream Thinking Program to deliver on-farm advice relating to aspects such as water management, grazing management, habitats, habitat surveying, infrastructure, and offering small grants. I also provide advice and work with farmers on agri-environment scheme applications.

Working on a report commissioned by The Exmoor Society in response to Dieter Helm's challenge at their Spring Conference 2017. This study has sought “to develop and pilot a practical toolkit for identifying and prioritising the natural capital assets that deliver the full range of benefits (ecosystem services) that can be provided by Exmoor”. Mapping vegetation change on Exmoor's moorlands from aerial photography, backed up by field surveying, on QGIS and ERDAS Imagine software.

I have experience on several estates and have beat on grouse, partridge and pheasant shoots in positions of responsibility. Beating requires teamwork and the ability to work with a range of different people including other beaters, gamekeepers, landowners, shooting clients and the public.I studied a Woodland and Field Sports module on my course at Harper Adams which further increased my knowledge.

I was a placement student from Harper Adams University working in a voluntary capacity under the Reserve Manager. My role included practical management work on a lowland raised peat bog including tree clearance, fencing, willow coppicing, infrastructure maintenance, trail maintenance and safety audits. I was involved with surveying and monitoring of flora, fauna and hydrology including white faced darter dragonflies, cladonia lichens and carbon content surveying.I worked as part of the management team and was encouraged to participate in management decisions for the management of the bog.I led the Fenn’s Volunteer Group which included setting up tasks, collecting equipment, tool talks and health and safety talks, time and task management as well as running the task during the day. I also led guided walks, engaged with the public, helped with school and college groups and helped to run events and man stands at public events.I wrote a report for the Fenn's NNR management as part of my placement titled 'Is Molinia caerulea outcompeting Sphagnum, Eriophorum vaginatum and Eriophorum angustifolium bog communities on Fenn’s, Whixall National Nature Reserve. If so, what can be done about it, bearing in mind site constraints.'. For this report I surveyed Molinia at various points across Fenn's NNR, linked the results to water levels and researched various methods of Molinia control, why the species has established and how it is so effective at colonising the site.
