I am an historian, author, and teacher based in Mobile, AL. My book UNDERSTANDING ZIONISM: HISTORY AND PERSPECTIVES is an introductory primer that distills a complex and controversial topic for general audiences. I have carried out original research on Modern Jewish History during my PhD in History, and some of this work has been published in peer-reviewed journals. Other scholarly contributions of mine include several book reviews, conference panels and presentations, and public lectures.I currently work as a part time instructor in the History Department at the University of South Alabama, and as a substitute teacher on an occasional basis for our local public school system. I have previously worked with elementary and middle school grade levels as a history teacher and reading fluency teacher. While I grew up in California, USA and now live in Alabama, I have lived in Lebanon and Scotland and have spent long periods researching in Israel. I care very much about my local community in Mobile: I am deeply involved in a local church, work as a registration clerk at my precinct polling place for elections, am a member of the Jewish-Christian Dialogue Group of Mobile and of the Mobile Transit Advocacy Coalition.
