Danse McCabre is an all-female Ceilidh (pronounced “kay-lee”) Dance band based in Aberdeen, Scotland, with a growing following of enthusiastic dancers. Ceilidh dances are similar to English barn dances, where everyone can join in regardless of their age. Danse McCabre perform for parties and celebrations of all types - weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, Corporate events, Robert Burns suppers, New Year (or “Hogmanay”) - or simply for a great night out! The band has a CD, called "Instant Ceilidh", which provides all the music and a mini booklet of written dance instructions so you can hold your own personal ceilidh dance even when the band can’t be there, including “Auld Lang Syne” to round off the night in traditional style!The current line-up of Danse McCabre came together in 2006, and has an eclectic, lively style, playing a mixture of old favourites, such as the Dashing White Sergeant and Strip the Willow as well as less familiar dances such as the Lady Godiva and Un, Deux, Trois - Poussez. We walk and talk the dancers through the dances before the music starts, and even demonstrate them where appropriate, so no-one needs any prior experience to fully participate in the entertainment! The instruments in the band are: fiddle, whistle, bodhran (an Irish drum) and keyboards. Described as "fantastic" by Real Weddings Magazine, and "a unique and fun ceilidh band ... their professionalism and quality of musicianship really stands out" by the Musicians Network, Danse McCabre is winning fans with every performance!

Vital Veg is an organic box scheme, run from our farm at North Tillydaff, 16 miles to the west of Aberdeen, in N.E.Scotland. We grow and supply organic vegetables of the highest quality and freshness to the local community, delivering to homes and offices within a 20 mile radius of the farm. Our aim is to be sustainable, to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, and to buck the trend of globalisation, to grow food which is highly nutritious, without harm to the environment in which we live. There are two partners in the business - myself and Dr Wendy Seel - both of us trained as plant scientists and did research/lecturing for 12 years before taking the plunge into practical growing. With our small team of 5 enthusiastic growers/veg packers/drivers we currently supply over 100 families per week with vegetables, as well as buying in delicious organic fruit, eggs, mushrooms, and a range of organic / ethical groceries such as fruit juices, soaps, jams, chutneys etc..We go above and beyond the Soil Association organic certification requirements, and have planted a 50 acre native woodland in 2004, added several hundred metres of native hedges, wildflower meadows, and are constantly looking to improve our farm for bees and wildlife of all kinds.

JingBang Ceilidh Band performs for Weddings, Birthdays, Anniversaries, Corporate Events, and celebrations of all kinds. The band consists of marine biologist Dr Eileen Bresnan from Dublin on flute and whistle; Dr Tim Jones on banjo, mandolin and tenor guitar; multi-talented singer/songwriter & printer Graham Stephen on guitar and vocals; organic veg grower Dr Anne Taylor on keyboard and dance-calling, and senior BBC Radio Producer and presenter Claire White from Shetland on fiddle and vocals.

Worked with Dr Wendy Seel on the physiology of parasitic plants, especially witchweed (Striga hermonthica) on maize.

Worked with Prof Tony Trewavas and Dr Steve Smith on the Molecular Biology of Calmodulin. An interesting background for an organic grower! At the time, genetic manipulation of plants in UK labs was purely a research tool to better understand the role of genes and the proteins they encoded for.

Worked with Prof Dan Cosgrove on the Biophysics of growth regulators.
