In my role as Finance Executive I am responsible for all finance related activities and transactions within the company. Avanticell is an SME company which specialises in the isolation and culture of human primary cells, and in cell-based analysis using human primary and stem cells. A large part of our income is generated through European project funding, this aspect of the role requires me to interface closely with several government agencies to ensure available funding is maximized, I am responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting, submission of monthly VAT returns, processing of monthly salaries and the monitoring and maintenance of cash forecasting and performance.

Thorntoun Estate specializes in professional respite services for adults who have learning disabilities, residential support and tailored care programs for the elderly. The group consists of two homes at separate locations and a specialist unit for respite.. In the role of financial controller, I reported directly to the owner of the organisation and was personally responsible for managing all aspects of a co-located finance and purchasing team. The main duties of the role included preparation of the monthly management accounts, processing sales and purchase ledgers, monthly salaries, weekly cash forecasting and the negotiation and implementation of supplier contracts. I was also required to prepare financial reports & cost variance analysis for the group, with the aim of focusing the operation on meeting financial commitments. Furthermore I was responsible for the continued evaluation of the financial processes and identification of opportunities which would further enhance or improve operational efficiency.

As head of Finance at Kilmarnock Football Club I managed the department and reported directly to the Club Chairman, in this role I was responsible for all finance related activities & transactions within the company. My main tasks include the preparation of monthly management accounts and cash flow reporting for the Football Club, Hotel, Fitness Centre and Club shop, monitoring these figures closely against the annual budgets to ensure maximum profitability and efficient control of spend. The accounts were prepared accurately and always within month end and annual deadlines. I also took ownership for the processing of all intercompany transaction/ journals, including accruals, prepayments, cash book entries, sales and purchase ledgers, reconciliation of all bank accounts, payment of monthly salaries, quarterly VAT submissions, collector returns and completion of P11d’s. My role also entailed reviewing and improving internal financial controls ensuring that all departments adhered to club policies and understand their importance and how they impact the business. I was the main point of contact at the club for external auditors and bank relationship manager and as such nurtured a relationship based on trust, honesty & mutual respect.Other activities include; monitoring and renegotiation of key supplier accounts, main cheque signatory and managing all aspects of team dynamics within department
