Having worked here formally since age 15, and informally helping since much younger, this is considered a home environment as much as a work experience. Being born into a family company has benefited me with the privileges of working for fun and experience, with the ability to move around from assisting in office jobs such as design, marketing, administration, product research, sales, and accounts receivable, to fieldwork in the department's horticultural lab research to manual labor and harvesting. Administrative assistance: Critical thinking and independence for event planning (caterers, venues, merchandise, and music) for some events reaching over 2,000 guests. I spent my high school and university years teaching myself spreadsheets (Excel, Sheets, and Numbers), graphic design (print and digital media) (Adobe), website design (WordPress), customer service skills (grit and smiles), and product research. The most important takeaway: 'Just figure it out,' and remain teachable in all areas.Horticulture/Agriculture: Assisting PhDs and studying procedures taken in protoplasm fusion and polyploidy, as well as the agronomic potentials. In sterile labs, greenhouse, field, and acclimation environments, I worked in propagation, studying and selecting genetics, grafting, and measuring and recording data to be analyzed.

This required selling $1,600 of candles (with the marketing director being 4 years old), renting a U-Haul, finding an adult to drive it (I was underage at the time), purchasing the bathtub off craigslist,a truck of soil, rocks for drainage, and all the plants (and research to ensure the plants did indeed like living in bathtubs), organizing with the city council to allow me to place it in the park near the school, and finally having it all completed and ready for the children to plant on the day their caterpillars havesuccessfully turned into butterflies to be released over it. It went smoothly.Not my biggest achievement, but probably my happiest.
