Preserving the past…for the futureThe Archaeological Conservancy is the only national, nonprofit organization that identifies, acquires, and preserves the most significant archaeological sites in the United States. Since its beginning in 1980, the Conservancy has now preserved nearly 600 sites across the nation, ranging in age from the earliest habitation sites in North America to a 19th-century frontier army post.We are building a national system of archaeological preserves to ensure the survival of our irreplaceable cultural heritage.

The Colorado Open Space Alliance is a Colorado-based non-profit under the Colorado Nonprofit Development Center. As a regional organization of publicly funded local government open space programs, we work cooperatively to share information, create public awareness, and foster partnerships needed to protect and preserve the special places of Colorado.

The Open Space and Trails Manager performs complex open space and trail planning and land acquisition duties in accordance with the Town’s Comprehensive Plan, Open Space Plan, Trails Master Plan and Trails Standards and Guidelines. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to strategic planning for the open space program, coordinating and administering open space and trail activities, planning long range open space goals, acquiring new open space lands, managing the annual open space budget, securing grant funding, preparing management plans for select open space properties, coordinating projects in conjunction with the Breckenridge Open Space Advisory Committee and other planning department and Town staff, fostering healthy partnerships with outside partnership organizations. In addition to the oversight of Open Space and Trails programs and initiatives, this position is responsible for winter season Nordic operations management, and other related duties as assigned.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission was incorporated in April 2006 as an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance to operate a land trust accreditation program to build and recognize strong land trusts, foster public confidence in land conservation and help ensure the long-term protection of land.The Commission is governed by a board of diverse land conservation and nonprofit management experts from around the country.Commissioners volunteer their expertise to verify that a land trust is carrying out specific indicator practices from Land Trust Standards and Practices. The Sierra Cascade Land Trust Council (SCLTC) is a coalition of 14 land trusts and conservation 501(c) (3) organizations. These organizations work on a grassroots level with willing landowners to protect strategic lands and watershed areas.The Council provides a unified voice for the region to attract increased state and federal funding to enhance and protect our water sources, recreational lands, and local food sources. SCLTC provides opportunities for land trusts and conservancies in the region to have greater impact locally through collaboration and advocacy.Occupying only a third of California’s landmass, the Sierra Cascade provides over 60 percent of the state’s clean drinking water. Half of California’s plant and animal species are found in the Sierra Cascade region, and more than 50 million visitors come each year to enjoy the spectacular scenery and abundant recreational opportunities found here.

Shasta Land Trust conserves the beauty, character, and diversity of significant lands in far northern California. Since 1998, Shasta Land Trust had led the efforts in the north state to permanently protect over 22,000 acres of working ranches and agricultural lands, wildlife habitats and migration corridors, and scenic and recreational landscapes.Visit www.shastalandtrust.org for more information.

Our mission is to protect, and to promote the protection of, the ecological integrity and other conservation values of the natural areas of Canada through securement of fee title and less than fee interests in land. Anne is responsible for managing the Land Trust’s growing portfolio of conservation easements, including maintaining appropriate records regarding all land project transactions, coordinating the conservation easement monitoring program, addressing requests for approvals or other easement-related questions and coordinating the organization’s response to potential violations. Prior to joining the Land Trust, Anne gained valuable experience in stewardship and conservation planning at Western Reserve Land Conservancy (formerly Chagrin River Land Conservancy) in Ohio and Little Traverse Conservancy in Michigan. Anne is also the online subject matter expert for the land protection and stewardship forums of The Learning Center, an online resource for member land trusts, partners, and donors of the Land Trust Alliance.
