Designed and broked umbrella and excess casualty placements as part of the National Casualty Practice for risk management clients in London, New York, Chicago, Minneapolis, Kansas City, and Pittsburgh in the midst of a corporate reorganization which culminated in elimination of more than 75% of the National Casualty practice.  EXCESS CASUALTY INSURANCE BROKERAGE: Procured umbrella and excess liability coverage through analysis of client’s casualty risk profile and experience for presentation to the global insurance market. Secured billions of dollars of capacity from the global marketplace at highly competitive premiums for enhanced coverage, terms and conditions. CLIENT SEGMENTATION: Analyzed Marsh Casualty book for profitability maximization based on client risk profile, client defined service standards and available insurance market capacity to support the specific measures for client segmentation. GLOBAL PROGRAM PEER REVIEW: Eliminated multi-million-dollar coverage gap caused by jurisdictional differences in coverage interpretation between US and EU issued policy forms allowing for collection on an existing loss.

Maximized the performance of Bermuda’s largest casualty brokerage operations consisting of a 22 person multi-cultural staff and an international reporting structure into London. Steered the annual placement of 1,500+ insurance policies for more than 500 North American and European clients to produce in excess of $500 million in premium into the Bermuda market. Improved form, service, and policy delivery by coaching and optimizing relationships with 12 direct writing markets of North American headquartered risk. Functional oversight spanned profitability analysis, placements, fee negotiations, staffing, performance management, cost containment, and E&O prevention/resolution while strengthening client relationships. OPERATIONAL IMPROVEMENT: Boosted client service and operational profitability by restructuring the punitive damage unit, reducing staff, redistributing workflow, and balancing client needs with market expectations.  TEAM DEVELOPMENT: Boosted the number of local hires and lowered the cost of expatriate hiring by instituting an on-the-job training program and guiding development of new personnel. Successfully retained 50% of new local hires. COST CONTAINMENT: Decreased corporate travel expenses 20% through partnership with Bermuda markets to devise a panel presentation approach to clients and brokers on North American marketing trips. Enabled multi-market participation while trimming 11 travel days.

Bound more than 200 policies annually in U.S. marketplace with 2 direct reports and $61 million in domestic gross written premiums. Consulted with Fortune 500 clients on insurance terms, conditions, attachments, limits, and global market selection for umbrella/excess casualty programs. Leveraged international markets and presented casualty insurance topics as a frequent speaker at client venues. CLIENT SATISFACTION: Achieved a seamless transition for a major aeronautics firm which was forced to move from a 12-year-long legacy relationship on a manuscripted form, due to change in underwriting appetite, to a new insurer and program structure while successfully enhancing many terms and conditions. CLIENT SOLUTION DESIGN: Reduced program complexity for a Big 3 advertising firm by persuading markets to manuscript professional liability coverage into their umbrella and excess casualty forms thereby eliminating the question of where coverage was afforded and reducing the overall cost of coverage.
